Adventures in Science

Week 1: G-Force

The first week of Adventures in Science will provide campers a “hands-on, minds-on” experience to imagine, design, and build structures that have speed and extreme acceleration. Using everyday materials, we’ll fabricate rockets from scratch and blast them off to heights of 500ft! Co-operative learning, designing, testing, and healthy competition are all part of this week. Who knew science could be so much fun?!

Week 2: CSI

See the world of forensic science come to life! By studying age-appropriate crime scenes, campers will learn about fingerprinting, ink and fiber analysis, and will examine (fake) blood samples and other evidence. Participants will use deductive reasoning, observation, and recorded evidence to draw logical conclusions and solve crimes. Young investigators will realize the power of proper evidence and use detective vocabulary such as forensic, evidence, analysis, and eye-witness accounts. This week will also include on campus demonstrations from local police and detective units.
